Bhubaneswar: One person was critically injured late Monday night when a gas cylinder exploded at his residence in the Bada Bandha Sahi area of Borigaon village under Nimakhandi police station in Ganjam district.
The injured has been identified as Prafulla Raul.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 10:30 pm when Raul, who was alone at home, went to cook. The gas cylinder suddenly exploded, triggering a massive fire that completely destroyed his house and damaged nearby properties.
Neighbours, alerted by the loud blast, rushed to the scene and rescued Raul, who was found in critical condition. He was immediately shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Brahmapur for treatment.
Fire service personnel reached the spot soon after being informed and brought the blaze under control.
