Nayagarh: One person died while three sustained critical injuries when the car they were travelling by caught fire after it rammed into a roadside tree near Jamusahi locality on Sunday morning in Odisha’s Nayagarh district.
The identities of the deceased as well as the injured are yet to be ascertained.
According to reports, four people were coming from Chhattisgarh to Puri town for a darshan the Holy Trinity. On the way, they met with the accident.
On being informed, locals rescued the four critically injured persons and admitted them to the Nayagarh Community Health Centre (CHC) in Dasapalla. The doctors declared one of them ‘brought dead’.
On being informed, police arrived at the spot and launched an investigation. A preliminary report said that the accident could have occurred due to dense fog with reduced visibility.
A Fire Services team doused the flames after 30 minutes of endeavour.
