Balasore: As many as 10 persons were injured as the bus they were travelling in crashed into a house at Jahniapada village under Oupada block in Balasore district late on Tuesday night, leaving more than 10 people injured.
As per reports, the bus was carrying passengers to a wedding when it lost control and met with a mishap, on Tuesday night.
Asit Sahu, a resident of Mitrapur in Nilagiri block, was en route to tie the knot with Gouranga Sahu’s daughter in Jhaniapada village. Tragically, the bus, ‘Sri Ganesh’, carrying over 50 wedding guests, veered off course and crashed into a house at Panisaunli Square along the Oupada Road, disrupting the joyous procession.
The crash was so loud that residents came out of their homes to rescue the trapped wedding guests. The injured were promptly rushed to nearby hospitals at Khaira, Soro, and Oupada.
While over 10 passengers were injured, one person is reported to be in critical condition.
However, the bus driver managed to escape from the scene. Khaira police initiated an investigation into the incident after being informed.
