Jeypore: Police seized huge quantities of ganja from the Tikarpada forest near G. Majhiguda Panchayat under Boipariguda police station in Koraput.
The raid, led by Baipariguda Police Station IIC Deepanjali Pradhan, resulted in the confiscation of 38 bags of ganja weighing 10 quintals 23 kg, suspected to be kept in the forest for smuggling purposes.
However, no arrest has been made in this regard. Efforts are on to nab the smugglers soon, police said.
Acting on reliable information, IIC Pradhan formed a team and conducted the raid, which yielded a substantial seizure. Although no arrests have been made yet, the police are actively investigating the matter. Pradhan said that the ganja mafia will be apprehended soon.
The seized contraband items were weighed in the presence of a magistrate and subsequently produced before the Jeypore court.
