Bhubaneswar: A severe heat and humid condition has hit schools in Rajnagar block of Kendrapara as 10 students from two schools have been admitted to the Rajnagar Community Health Centre due to heatstroke. The affected students, including eight from 9th class and two from 10th class, were from Rajnagar High School and Shri Jagannath High School in Chandibaunsamula village.
The students collapsed one after another in the classroom due to the intense heat and humidity, prompting immediate hospitalisation. Two other students received primary treatment at school and recovered.
Block Education Officer Vinod Sethi, Additional Block Education Officer Chitta Ranjan Swain, and the school principals visited the Community Health Centre to check on the students’ health. Fortunately, all the students are reported to be healthy after receiving treatment.
