Baripada: In a shocking incident a 10-year-old disabled girl was allegedly raped in Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district.
A case has been registered at the Baripada Town Police Station following medical confirmation, and an investigation is underway.
According to reports, the victim’s parents, who are daily wage labourers, returned home to find their daughter unusually silent.
When the mother lifted her from the bed, she noticed severe bleeding from the girl’s private parts and signs of physical distress. The parents immediately rushed her to the Rairangpur Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment.
Taking advantage of the parents’ absence, the perpetrator allegedly committed the crime, which has become a topic of widespread discussion in Rairangpur.
The attending doctor, along with the girl’s parents, suspected sexual assault due to her condition. As the bleeding did not stop, the doctor referred her to the PRM Medical College in Baripada for advanced treatment.
After examination at the PRM Medical College, doctors confirmed the assault and reported it to the police, leading to the registration of a rape case at the Town Police Station.
Sub-Inspector Minati Nayak is currently investigating the incident. The victim, a minor from the adivasi community, is reported to be in critical condition.
