Bhubaneswar: As many as 1,036 posts of teachers are lying vacant in Government colleges while 2,717 such posts are lying vacant in aided colleges across the State, informed Higher Education Minister Rohit Pujari in a written reply to a question posed by BJD MLA from Jayadev Arabinda Dhali in the Odisha Assembly today.
Similarly, 1,691 posts of non-teaching staff are lying vacant in Government colleges while 3,073 such posts are lying vacant in aided colleges across the State, the Minister stated.
Pujari has said that recruitment to fill up vacancies of teachers by the Higher Education Department in various subjects is underway through the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) and State Selection Board (SSB).
The process to appoint non-teaching staff like 25 Junior Librarians, 18 PETs and 291 Laboratory Assistant-cum-Store Keepers in Government colleges through the Odisha Subordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) is underway, he said.
Necessary steps are being taken to fill up vacancies of non-teaching staff in aided colleges, he added.
The Minister further stated that all universities and colleges under the Higher Education Department are functioning as per the 5T principle of the government.
