Bhubaneswar: A youth was seriously injured after being shot at by miscreants in front of the Sector-4 post office in Rourkela on Saturday night.
The victim, identified as Vijay Lakra, was driving a car when miscreants opened fire and fled the scene. Lakra, a resident of Kuanramunda area, was shot in the neck and rushed to Ispat General Hospital (IGH) for treatment.
According to reports, the miscreants had planned the attack in advance, and Lakra had received threats from them earlier. After the shooting, Lakra lost control of the wheel following which the vehicle crashed into the wall of a house in Sector-4. The Sector-3 police station has launched an investigation into the incident.
This incident comes on the heels of another shooting that took place on December 22 last year, during a mini-marathon event at Biju Patnaik Square in Sector-2. A youth named Salil Sahu was shot in the chest and admitted to IGH in critical condition.
