Cuttack: Excise Department officials seized 104 cases of beer during a raid on a house at Erkana Bazar in Nischintakoili area of Cuttack district on Wednesday.
One person identified as Narsingha Rao has been arrested in this connection.
This was informed by Cuttack District Excise Superintendent Debasis Patel at a presser here today.
Patel said that after notification of model code of conduct the Excise Department has taken various measures to curb illicit liquor trade.
“So far 477 Excise cases have been registered in the district. More than 430 persons have been arrested in this connection while few are absconding,” Patel added.
The Excise Superintendent has informed that country liquor, pocha, ganja, brown sugar, 30 two-wheelers, and 5 four-wheelers have been seized from various places in the district so far.
The estimated value of the seized goods is about Rs 3 crore, he added.
