Bhubaneswar: In a major drug bust, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and Customs officials seized approximately 11 kg of hydroponic weed valued at Rs 4 crore at Bhubaneswar’s Biju Patnaik International Airport on Tuesday morning.
According to reports, the consignment was being smuggled from Bangkok by two Tamil youths who arrived in Bhubaneswar on an Indigo flight. Acting on specific intelligence, DRI and Customs teams conducted a joint operation at the airport and intercepted the accused.
Meanwhile, both the Tamil youths have been detained and are currently being interrogated by the investigating authorities.
Notably, hydroponic weed is a high-quality and potent form of cannabis, which is why the seized quantity has such a high market value. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the full network behind the smuggling racket.
