Mistreatment In Mayurbhanj

Baripada: 116 students from Basipitha Ashram School in Khunta block of Mayurbhanj district walked 22 kilometers overnight to meet the Collector after they were allegedly given bad food and mistreated by their teachers.

According to reports, the students, who stay in the school hostel, claimed they were given substandard food. When they complained, they allege that the teachers often used abusive language against them for no reason.

Frustrated by their concerns being ignored, the students left the hostel around midnight and made their way to Baripada, the district headquarters.

Upon receiving the information, Baripada Sub-Collector Dayasindhu Parida and District Welfare Officer (DWO) Guru Charan Mallick immediately reached the spot to address the issue.

Baripada Additional District Magistrate Netrananda Mallick stated that the Collector had promised to provide all necessary facilities for them.

“It is sad that the students had to walk such a long distance to raise their concerns. We will ensure their demands are met,” he said.

In response, DWO Guru Charan Mallick confirmed that the students’ complaints about the food quality and mistreatment would be investigated.

“If the allegations are found to be true, we will report it to the Collector for further action,” he said.
