Bhubaneswar: As many as 12 districts from Odisha have been identified for Mission Indradhanush 4.0 inoculation drive through the Universal Immunisation Programme of the Health & Family Welfare Department of the Government of India (GoI).
The districts identified for the purpose are Cuttack, Ganjam, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Kendrapada, Keonjhar, Koraput, Khordha, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Sundargarh and the five municipal corporations in the State, said an official of the Health & Family Welfare Department.
Mission Indradhanus 4.0 aims t aims to protect children and pregnant women from life-threatening diseases through Universal Immunisation Programme.
The Mission Indradhanush 4.0 will have three rounds from March to May with inoculation up to seven days in each round.
The first round will be from March 7, second round from April 4 and third round from May 2.
State-level Nodal Officers have been vested with the responsibility for the success of the programme in the aforementioned districts.
A meeting of the State level taskforce chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary Health and Family Welfare Department has been held. Officials from the departments of Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water; Women & Child Development; Housing & Urban Development; Education; Sports & Youth Services; Scheduled Tribe; Labour; and Information & Public Relations attended the meeting.
It is targeted to inoculate 10,997 children in (0-2 years age group) and 2631 pregnant women in 168 communities through 4625 sessions in 12 districts.
UNICEF, WHO, JSI and UNDP have extended their support for the programme informed Family Welfare Director Dr Bijay Panigrahi at a sensitization programme for the media folks.
