Cuttack: In preparation for the upcoming Durga Puja and immersion (Bhasani) festivities, the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate has announced extensive security measures to maintain law and order in Cuttack.

Addressing the media, Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh confirmed that 122 platoons and over 600 police officers will be deployed across the city.

“Two central armed forces and special tactical units will be mobilised for anti-terror operations. Drones will also be used for surveillance,” he said.

The Commissioner emphasised that additional safety arrangements have been made, including deployment of fire services, Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), and medical teams. To ensure the security of women during the festivities, dedicated security squads will be stationed, along with the establishment of 36 police outposts throughout the city.

Special traffic management plans have been put in place to handle the increased movement during the Puja period. CCTV cameras and drone surveillance will provide continuous monitoring to prevent any untoward incidents.

“We are hopeful that with these measures in place, the Durga Puja and immersion will be conducted smoothly and peacefully,” said Singh.

The preparatory meeting saw the presence of Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) from all four zones of Cuttack and officers from various police stations. Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo provided detailed inputs on the security arrangements.

The Commissionerate Police’s proactive approach aims to ensure a safe and harmonious celebration for all citizens.
