Aul: At least 13 people, including women and children, were injured in a chain-reaction road accident involving an auto-rickshaw, a Bolero and a car in Kendrapara district on Friday afternoon. Three of the injured were reported to be in serious condition.
According to reports, passengers travelling in the auto-rickshaw suffered the maximum injuries. The seriously injured have been identified as Sangeeta Mallik, Pushpa Mallik and Pradeep Mallik.
Sources said 11 members of two families from Itipur village near Barua were travelling in an auto-rickshaw to Akhandalmani when the mishap occurred. Local residents rushed to the spot, rescued the injured and shifted them to the Aul Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment.
As the condition of Sangeeta Malik, Pushpa Malik and Pradeep Malik was stated to be critical, they were later referred to and admitted at the Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital.
Other injured persons, including Tuni Mallik, Kanak Malik, Kanha Mallik, Chandini Mallik, Mahavir Mallik and Mantu Mallik, are undergoing treatment at the Aul CHC.
