Bhubaneswar: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Excise Department (EI & EB, Unit-II, Kataka) detected an NDPS case and arrested one person with 131 grams of heroin.
The accused has been identified as Manoj Samal (31) of Solar under Bairi Police Station. He was arrested for possession of heroin and charged under the NDPS Act, 1985.
The raid was conducted today under the supervision of DSE Bikash Kumar Nayak. The seizure was made at Gobindapur Chhak near NH-16 under Tangi Police Station.
The approximate value of the seized contraband is Rs 13.1 lakh. The accused has been forwarded to judicial custody.
The raiding party comprised Inspector of Excise Abani Kumar Mohapatra, ASI Manas Kumar Mishra, and Constables Prakash Kumar Satpathy, Ranjan Kumar Patra and Deepak Kumar Sahoo.
