Sundargarh: Fourteen people were taken into custody after a woman was allegedly stripped naked, paraded through the streets, and beaten by her husband in Timna village under Bargaon police limits in Sundargarh district.

According to reports, the woman was reportedly involved in an extra-marital relationship with an unmarried youth from a nearby village. The youth had been staying at her house for four days, following which villagers caught the pair and held a ‘kangaroo court.’ Both allegedly confessed to the relationship during the hearing.

The villagers informed the woman’s husband, who works in Bengaluru. He returned home on Wednesday and, in a fit of rage, publicly stripped and assaulted his wife while forcing her to walk through the village. A video of the incident went viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage.

Sundargarh SP Amritpal Kaur, along with the Additional SP and police personnel, reached the village, investigated the matter, and detained 14 persons for questioning.
