Bolangir: Khaprakhol police in Bolangir district rescued 14 migrant labourers including six women and five children while they were being allegedly trafficked to Hyderabad.
Police have arrested two persons-the labour contractor (Sardar) Biswanath Tandi and the driver of the vehicle that was used for transporting the labourers-Dhabaleswar Sahu.
According to reports, Khaprakhol police while patrolling near Dhandamunda High School Chowk under Khaprakhol police limits in Patnagarh Sub Division on Tuesday conducted a raid and rescued 15 migrant workers while they were being allegedly taken to Hyderabad in an SUV.
The rescued labourers who include six women and five children are from Bhanpur village in Bolangir district and Nilathar village under Paikamal police limits of Bargarh district.
While the Khaprakhol police have arrested the labour contractor (Sardar) Biswanath Tandi of Jamujhari village under Belapada police limits and driver of the SUV driver Dhabaleswar Sahu, another labour contractor (Sardar)-the kingpin of the racket Ashok Mahanada of Mahulpali under Belapada police limits has managed to flee, the reports added.
