Bhubaneswar: A shocking incident from Raighati village under Soso police limits in Keonjhar district has sent ripples through the community, where a 14-year-old boy was allegedly murdered by his friend, reportedly over a dispute involving a mobile phone.

The victim, identified as Gusa, son of Silay, had gone missing on Sunday after being invited by his friend Kundia, son of Pasing Ho, to visit his sister’s house. While Kundia returned home the next day, Gusa never came back.

Four days later, Gusa’s body was discovered in a jungle, approximately 2 kilometers from the village, triggering panic among locals. Upon being alerted by villagers, the family rushed to the scene, and police arrived soon after to recover the body, which has since been sent for a post-mortem examination.

According to the victim’s family, the root of the conflict dates back to a period when both boys were working in Pondicherry a few months ago. During their stay, Gusa had purchased a mobile phone, which Kundia allegedly hid or withheld, sparking a bitter argument between the two. Although they appeared to reconcile later, the family believes resentment lingered, eventually leading to premeditated murder.

Following the family’s formal complaint, Kundia has been detained, and police have launched a detailed investigation into the matter. The tragic death of the minor has deeply shocked the local community, raising concerns about youth conflicts and safety.
