Bhubaneswar: As many as 185 posts of Associate Professors, 148 Assistant Professors and 83 Professors are lying vacant in different Government Medical Colleges of Odisha, informed Minister of Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) Mukesh Mahaling in the Odisha Assembly on Monday.
This was revealed by Mahaling while replying to a question by BJD MLA from Kendrapara Ganeswar Behera. Mahaling said that steps are being taken to fill up the vacancies in the rank of Professor and Associate Professor by conducting DPCs.
He said that the vacancies in the rank of Assistant Professor are being filled by regular recruitment through OPSC.
Failing the above, the vacancies in different ranks of Government Medical College teaching posts are filled up by contractual engagement as an interim measure to fulfil the norms of NMC, the Minister added.
