Koraput: The Koraput Town Police on Thursday arrested two men in connection with an assault and mobile phone robbery near the Government Women’s College in Koraput.
The accused have been identified as Karan Kuldip (23) and Abhisek Khara (21), both residents of Odiaguda village under Koraput Town Police Station.
According to police, the complainant, D. Rama Krishna, was returning home from the railway station around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday when he was stopped by two men on a motorcycle near the college.
The duo demanded money from him, and when he refused, they assaulted him and snatched his smartphone, valued at around Rs 40,000, before fleeing the scene.
A police investigation soon led to the identification and apprehension of the two accused.
The stolen mobile phone and the motorcycle used in the crime were recovered.
Both Kuldip and Khara have been arrested and were forwarded to court today.
