Nabarangpur: Eight days after the heinous rape and murder of a 10-year-old minor girl in Tentulikhunti police limits of Nabarangpur, the police has cracked the case with the arrest of two persons.
Police said the accused persons belonging to the same village as that of the victim have been identified as Alekh Majhi and Paramanand Disari. They are 20 and 24 years of age, the police added.
On September 17, body of a 10-year-old minor girl was found near the school at Kantagaon village under Tentulikhunti police limits under suspicious circumstances.
A case was registered at Tentulikhunti police station in this regard. A DSP rank officer–Nabarangpur SDPO was entrusted with the investigation.
On the same day, the Investigating Officer and other senior officers along with scientific team, scientific forensic team, district cyber team and dog squad visited the spot.
“During the investigation every angle was investigated and due to speedy investigation we were able to detect the case quickly. We have arrested two accused persons from the same village who are 20 and 24 years of age. They were initially detained on charges of sexual assault and murder of minor girl. With sufficient preliminary evidence against them we have arrested them and are forwarding them to court. They are Alekh Majhi and Paramanand Disari,” informed DIG (South Western Range) Charan Singh Meena addressing a presser at the district police headquarters here on Tuesday.
