2 Bouncers Arrested On Charges Of Kidnapping Bar’s Floor Manager In Bhubaneswar And Demanding Ransom

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Wednesday arrested two bouncers on charges of kidnapping the floor manager of a bar in Bhubaneswar and demanding Rs 50000 as a monthly payoff.

As per reports, complainant Mujibar Rahaman, works as a floor manager at Mohanty Dance Bar located on Cuttack Road, in the Laxmisagar Area of the capital city. Rahaman resided in a rented house in Sundarpada along with his other staff.

“On July 28, the abductors arrived at Rahaman’s residence in a car and forcefully abducted him. After the abduction, Rahaman was kept at an isolated place near Sisupalgarh and assaulted mercilessly. The abductors demanded a ransom of Rs 50000, and fixing it as a monthly payoff. During the assault, the victim was severely injured after which the accused persons fled the place,” said Girija Shankar Chakrabarty, ACP, Bhubaneswar Sub Division II.

Further, Chakrabarty added, “Upon receiving the complaint, an FIR was registered at Airfield Police Station and a probe was launched into the case. A team led by Airfield PS IIC successfully apprehended the accused persons last night (Wednesday).”

The abductors have been identified as Ashish Sahoo (29), hailing from the Old Town area, and Aditya Baral (24), a resident of Balipatna. The vehicle used for the abduction was seized by police while two other associates of the abductors were on the run. Both Ashish and Aditya are habitual offenders and several complaints have been registered against them at different police stations.

Further, ACP Chakrabarty stated that the prime motive behind the abduction was extortion and they targeted different businessmen. He further ascertained that such things will not be tolerated and immediate action will be taken.
