Head-On Bike Collision

Bhubaneswar: Two persons were killed and another was critically injured in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a pickup van near a petrol pump under Kusumi outpost of Mahulpali police station in Sambalpur district on Monday.

The deceased have been identified as Chinmay Thakur and Gagan Patra, both residents of Chheprabeda village under Kuchinda police station limits. The injured person, Shishir Thakur, was rushed to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, for treatment.

According to reports, the trio had visited Gudguda Waterfall earlier in the day for leisure and were returning home when the accident took place. Near the petrol pump, their motorcycle reportedly collided head-on with a pickup van coming from the opposite direction, moving from Kuchinda towards Kusumi.

The impact of the collision was severe, killing two riders on the spot and leaving Shishir critically injured. He was immediately shifted to hospital by locals with the help of emergency responders.

On being informed, police reached the spot, seized the vehicles involved, and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
