Bhubaneswar: Addl Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar on Monday sentenced retired Senior Clerk of Banapur Tahasil Baikunthanath Mohanty and retired Revenue Inspector of Pratap Revenue Circle to 3 years imprisonment each and pay a fine of Rs 20,000 each after convicting them in a bribery case.
In default of payment of fine Mohanty and Barik have to undergo imprisonment for 4 months more each, the court has said in its order.
The court also sentenced them to undergo simple imprisonment for 3 years each and to pay a fine of Rs 20,000 each and in default of payment of the fine, to undergo further simple imprisonment for 4 months each more for the offence under section 120-B IPC.
The Court ruled that all the sentences are to run concurrently.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for the stoppage of the pension of both the convicts Baikunthanath Mohanty and Rabindranath Barik following their conviction.
