Jajpur: In a tragic road accident in Odisha’s Jajpur district, a man and his pregnant wife lost their lives while their minor daughter sustained critical injuries.
The deceased have been identified as Subrat Sahu (36) and his wife Annapurna Pal (30), residents of Siha village under Barachana police limits. The couple’s four-year-old daughter, Aaradhya, is currently undergoing treatment in critical condition at SCB Medical College and Hospital.
According to reports, the incident occurred on National Highway 16 near Shankharidih under Dharmasala police station limits. The family was returning on a scooter towards Chandikhole after Annapurna’s routine medical check-up at Jarka when the accident took place.
All three were initially rushed to the Dharmasala Community Health Centre for primary treatment. However, as their condition deteriorated, they were referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack for advanced care. Doctors there declared Subrat and Annapurna, along with the unborn child, dead on arrival.
The condition of Aaradhya remains critical as she continues to receive treatment.
Police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident.
