Bhubaneswar: At least 20 persons were injured 16 of them seriously when a ‘Mo Bus’ carrying them was hit by a truck from the rear on National Highway 16 near Pratapnagari in Cuttack district on Saturday.
The injured have been rushed to SCB Medical College & Hospital at Cuttack.
According to reports, a few passengers had remained trapped inside the bus following the accident. The rear of the bus and front of the truck have been severely damaged under the impact of the collision. However, the driver of the accident-causing truck has managed to flee the spot.
“While our bus was travelling at normal speed, the truck hit from the rear. The impact of the collision was so high that the bus was pushed for about 20 meters. The passengers sitting in the rear of the bus have sustained serious injuries. There were 50-60 passengers on the bus and out of them 15 were seriously injured. They have received deep injuries on their heads, legs, etc.
Five others have sustained minor injuries.
