Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has allocated Rs 6 for the construction of 50 new Anganwadi centres across the state, informed Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida in the State Assembly today.
Parida responded to a query from MLA Ramesh Chandra Behera, who sought information on the number of Anganwadi and Mini Anganwadi centers in each district, the number of Anganwadi centres lacking their own buildings, the funds allocated for new constructions in 2024-25, and the current status of these projects at the district and block levels.
According to Parida , a total of Rs 6 crore has been allocated for the construction of 50 Anganwadi centers at urban areas in the financial year 2024-25, with Rs 12 lakh allocated per center.
Besides, Deputy CM informed that out of 74,224 Anganwadi centers in the state, 20,150 lack their own buildings. To address this issue, the government has initiated the process of constructing new centers. So far, land has been identified for 49 centers, and construction work has begun at one location. However, the state does not have any mini Anganwadi centres.
