Bhubaneswar: A total of 22 students, 17 in Rourkela and five in Keonjhar, fell ill during the Independence Day parade on Thursday.

In Rourkela, 17 students participating in the parade at Sector 22 complained of dizziness and were rushed to a local hospital. Parents alleged that the parade was held in the noon time despite hot and humid conditions. After treatment, all the students were discharged.

Similarly, in Keonjhar, five students fell ill at the Bridge Chowk Ground in Anandpur where the sub-divisional level Independence Day was celebrated. The students were administered first-aid at a local sub-divisional hospital.
