Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area formed over Gangetic West Bengal and its adjoining areas is continuing to bring rainfall to various parts of Odisha. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the formation of another low-pressure area tomorrow, which is expected to exacerbate the rainfall situation.

According to the IMD, heavy rainfall will persist in the state until August 27 due to the combined effect of the two low-pressure areas. Today, a yellow warning has been issued for heavy rainfall in four districts: Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj. The warning includes the possibility of rain with thunder and lightning in many parts of the state.

The IMD has issued a warning for rainfall in a total of 20 districts, with the amount of rainfall expected to increase from tomorrow. A yellow warning has been issued for all districts tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Subarnarekha river is at risk of flooding again, with the water level near the danger mark at Rajghat. As of 6 am, the water level had risen to 10.35 meters, just a centimeter shy of the danger signal at 10.36 meters.

Residents in flood-prone areas are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. The IMD has urged people to stay alert and follow the latest weather updates.
