Bhubaneswar: A 22-year-old youth allegedly ended his life by hanging himself at his house near Tinimundia Chhak under Lingaraja police limits on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Sasanka Sekhar Satapathy.
According to reports, Sasanka was found hanging from the ceiling in his home. His family members immediately rescued him and rushed him to Capital Hospital in critical condition, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
On being informed, a team from the Lingaraja police arrived at the hospital and launched an investigation. A case has been registered and the police have seized Sasanka’s mobile phone for further inquiry.
Preliminary findings suggest that Sasanka had suffered significant financial losses while playing an online game. It is suspected that he took loans from multiple people to invest in the game. The police are now investigating the extent of his financial involvement in online gaming and its connection to the tragic incident.
