Bhubaneswar: Twenty-four talents from Odisha, selected jointly by Kalinga Daredevils and Thrillophilia, braved the snowstorm and a chilling temperature of -5 °C to -10 °C to successfully fly the national flag at a height of 14,065 feet on the top of Hampta Pass on the afternoon of June 10.
The expedition had been flagged off by MP Sujeet Kumar and Assistant Commissioner (Income Tax) Hrudaya Das. IGP Amitabh Thakur extended his wishes to the team. Kalinga Daredevils president Dr. Satyapira Padhan thanked everyone and led the climbing team.
The team included Debabrata Nayak, Prakash Satpathy, Subhankar Mohanty, Deepak Ranjan Das, Milan Manohar Priyarjan, and Dambru Behera from Bhubaneswar; Arun Kumar Mahant from Keonjhar; Nrusingha Charan Panda, Swaraj Rout, Reshab Panigrahi, Jyotish Kumar Bag, Abhijit Das, Jitendra Kumar Nayak, Jitendra Sahu, Jasobanta Dh. Majhi, Soumya Ranjan Rout, and Thakur Senapati from Kalahandi; Sachin Behera and Sobhan Rath from Nuapada; Aman Chhatria and Sambit Tripathy from Balangir; Biswajit Padhi from Deogarh; and Bisu Singh from Rourkela.
They started the trekking from Jobra in Himachal Pradesh on the morning of June 8. The adventure began with all the necessary extreme low weather clothing and utensils. They arrived at the summit on the afternoon of June 10 bringing glory to the country and the state.
After attending a reception event to be held in New Delhi today, the team will be arriving for a warm welcome at Bhubaneswar on June 15.
