Bhubaneswar: Tension ran high at the BJB Autonomous College hostel campus in Bhubaneswar after a violent clash broke out between two groups of students on Tuesday, leaving more than 25 students injured.

According to report, the clash erupted between students of Ashok Hostel and Ambedkar Hostel at BJB College reportedly triggered by a dispute over stopping music during a farewell party at Ashok Hostel. The confrontation quickly escalated, with students from both hostels engaging in stone-pelting and throwing bottles, turning the campus into a battleground. The violence left over 25 students injured, some with severe injuries, who were subsequently rushed to Capital Hospital for treatment.

Security forces, including three platoons of police, were deployed to restore order. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zonal Assistant Commissioner of Police, and other officials were present at the scene till Wednesday morning as part of measure to avoid untoward incident. Meanwhile, a permanent police camp has been set up at the hostel to monitor the situation.
