Bhubaneswar: As many as 2,544 sanctioned posts of teachers are lying vacant in public universities, government colleges and government-aided colleges in Odisha, informed Higher Education Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak in the State Assembly today.
In a written reply to a question asked by Khandapada MLA Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, Nayak said that 1094 sanctioned posts of teachers were lying vacant in public universities, 385 in government colleges and 1065 in government-aided colleges.
Nayak said that steps are being taken to fill up the vacancies through the Odisha Public Service Commission.
Similarly, steps are being taken to fill up vacancies in government-aided colleges through the Odisha Staff Selection Commission, he added.
