Bhubaneswar: As many as 28.42 lakh households in Odisha have been found initially eligible for pucca houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), following the completion of the AwaasPlus-2024 survey in the state, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik informed the Assembly on Tuesday.
In a written reply to a question by Kendrapada MLA Ganeswar Behera, Naik said a total of 37,89,234 prospective households were covered during the AwaasPlus-2024 survey conducted in the state.
Of these, 28,42,020 households were initially found eligible by the District Level Appellate Committee for sanction of pucca houses under PMAY-G.
The minister said the next step would be completion of the Permanent Waiting List (PWL) for the surveyed households. Houses will be sanctioned under PMAY-G after the PWL is finalised and the state receives the target allocated by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.
The minister, however, said no houses had been sanctioned under PMAY-G in Odisha during the financial years 2025-26 and 2026-27.
The AwaasPlus-2024 survey was conducted to identify eligible rural households that could be considered for housing assistance under the rural housing scheme. The identification of beneficiaries and preparation of the waiting list are part of the process before houses are sanctioned against the targets allocated to the state.
