Dhenkanal: Twenty-eight couples from Dhenkanal district entered wedlock on Monday in a mass marriage ceremony organised under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana at Abhinandan Garden in Dhenkanal town.
The traditional ceremony, organised by the Women and Child Development Department, Government of Odisha, was attended by Minister of Food Supply and Consumer Welfare, Science and Technology Krushna Chandra Patra, Hindol MLA Seemarani Nayak, Parjang MLA Bibhuti Bhushan Pradhan, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Archana Puhan, District Collector Ashish Ishwar Patil, SP Abhinav Sonkar, and Chief Development Officer of Zilla Parishad Deepti Ranjan Sethi.
The dignitaries congratulated the newlyweds and handed over financial assistance of Rs 45,000 to each couple under the scheme. The group wedding was conducted with the cooperation of District Social Welfare Officer Sangita Patra, departmental officers, and workers of various voluntary organizations.
