Subarnapur: In a major crackdown, Subarnapur police on Sunday seized 3,750 bottles of codeine-laced cough syrup worth around Rs 20 lakh and detained two persons in connection with the case.

The police intercepted a pickup vehicle at Sadar Block Chhak, which was ostensibly carrying cold drinks. On inspection, police discovered 150 packets containing the illicit syrup. Counting the bottles in the presence of a magistrate confirmed a total of 3,750 bottles.
