Balasore: Police on Saturday arrested three persons and detained the hotel manager in connection with the gang rape of a minor in a seaside hotel at Chandipur in Balasore district.
“Three of the accused in the minor gang rape case have been arrested. The manager of the hotel where the gang rape had taken place has been detained. We have written a red letter to the Sub Collector for legal action against the hotel where the gang rape had taken place,” informed Sasanka Sekhar Beura, Balasore Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer.
The SDPO said that the arrested accused persons are in the age range of 21-22 years.
The victim and the accused persons were known to each other and hail from the same panchayat, the SDPO added.
“The victim’s male friend (principal accused) with an intention to take revenge on the victim gang raped her with two of his friends,” Beura said.
The perpetrators of the crime had recorded the video of their sexual act with the rape survivor on their mobile phones, he added.
“These videos which they had deleted have been retrieved,” Beura informed.
A minor girl aged 15+ years was gang raped by three persons. They took her to a hotel in Chandipur area and raped her by turns.
The incident took place on Thursday and the victim allegedly tried to take her own life by consuming poison at her home after it.
She was rushed to the Balasore district hospital in a serious condition and is now recovering.
The mobile phones of the accused and two motorcycles used in the crime have been seized, police said.
A police complaint was lodged by the girl’s mother on Friday and based on it the police have registered a case under the IPC and the POCSO Act at Balasore Sadar police station.
