Bhubaneswar: Tamando police on Tuesday arrested three youths including the mastermind for faking a loot of Rs 3.33 lakh and hoodwinking the police.

The accused youths have been identified as Jayant Kumar Sahu, Nishikant Sahu and Raju Nayak. Jayant Kumar Sahu is the mastermind of the loot drama.

Police have seized two motorcycles and Rs 14,000 in cash from their possession.

According to reports, Jayant Kumar Sahu, who was working as the collection agent of ITC company is the mastermind of the loot drama.

Jayant on Saturday had reportedly collected a total of Rs 3.33 lakh from various stores on behalf of the company.

Allegedly instead of depositing the money in the bank account of his employer Jayant took to online gaming where he lost over Rs 2 lakh. Jayant with the help of his accomplices Nishikant and Raju enacted a loot drama near a mall.

While Jayant was carrying the money bag on a bike, his accomplices Nishikant and Raju who were on another bike snatched it and fled the spot. The whole incident was captured on CCTV camera. Then Jayant accompanied by his employer lodged a complaint with the Tamando police that the money bag was looted.

However, during sustained questioning by the police his statements mismatched and truth came out. Mastermind Jayant and the other accused confessed to their crime before the police and have been arrested.
