Bhawanipatna: Kalahandi Police on Monday arrested three Maoist sympathizers on the outskirts of Lanjigarh Road while they were planning to provide communication devices to Naxals.
The accused have been identified as Kabi alias Prabin Kumar Rout (49), Pratidin Rout (20), and Shaktisamanta Dalabehera (29). Dalabehera is a native of Badakera in Angul district.
As per their plan, they were proceeding to deliver two walkie-talkies (communication devices) to the Maoists of KKBN Division but got intercepted by the Police Party. They were searched and two brand new walkie-talkies were recovered from their exclusive possession.
During enquiry it was revealed that Kabi is a sympathizer and supporter of the Maoists of KKBN division and has acted as an active militia member providing logistics.
Earlier Kabi has assisted Maoists to raise funds, collect arms, explosive material, communication devices, harbours and facilitate the Maoists in their illegal activities in association with other people.
All three accused persons were subsequently arrested and a case was registered against them at Narla Police Station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1908.
