Baripada: Kaptipada police on Tuesday arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in the murder of a woman over a suspected extramarital affair in Bidyadharanagar village under Kaptipada police limits in Mayurbhanj district.

The accused have been identified as Sabitri Sae, wife of Pratap Sae, and her associates, Dukhia Sae and Jayanti Sae. Police said the body of the deceased, Madhe Singh, was recovered from a forest near the village on May 4.

According to reports, Sabitri suspected her husband Pratap of having an affair with Madhe and allegedly plotted to eliminate her. The situation escalated after Pratap reportedly expressed his desire to bring Madhe home.

On the night of May 3, Savitri allegedly attacked and killed Madhe with a knife near the village dam. Later, with the help of Dukhia and Jayanti, she dumped the body in a nearby forested area and fled.

Acting on leads, police launched a probe and arrested the trio.
