Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police will deploy a three-layer security cover involving around 30 platoons of personnel around the state Assembly ahead of its Monsoon Session beginning September 22, DGP-in-charge Vinaytosh Mishra said on Sunday.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made around the Assembly premises, including barricading of routes, regulation of vehicular movement and deployment of personnel at strategic locations, he said.
“Only those carrying valid passes will be allowed to enter the Assembly premises. Three-layer security will be deployed across the outer and inner perimeters, while vehicle movement in the outer perimeter will be regulated,” Mishra said.
Around 30 platoons of police personnel will be deployed at different points inside and around the Assembly premises. Security personnel will also be positioned on the rooftops of the Assembly building and nearby structures to maintain surveillance.
Spotters will also be deployed as part of the security arrangements, he said.
Bomb squads and anti-sabotage teams will conduct daily checks of the entire Assembly building during the session to detect and prevent any possible security threat.
“We will make every effort to ensure that the session proceeds smoothly,” Mishra said.
The seventh session of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly is scheduled to begin on September 22 and continue till October 3.
Senior police officials, including Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, Dr Suresh Dev Datta Singh, and Additional Police Commissioner Narsingha Bhol, were present during discussions on the security arrangements.
The meeting focused on security arrangements inside and around the Assembly premises, traffic management and protocols for VVIP movement during the session.
