Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Friday constituted a three-member committee to investigate the alleged malpractice in the Postgraduate (PG) examinations conducted by the Odisha University of Health Sciences (OUHS), directing it to submit its findings within two weeks.

According to an order issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department, the panel has been tasked with verifying the allegations, examining the examination process for any procedural or administrative lapses, fixing responsibility, and recommending further action wherever necessary.

The committee comprises Bijay Kumar Dash, Additional Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department; Dr. Bijay Kumar Mishra, Special Secretary (Medical Services); and Dr. Anil Kumar Sahu, Joint Director, Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET).

The government’s decision follows reports of serious irregularities during the PG examinations. While the exact nature of the alleged malpractice has not been officially disclosed, the incident has prompted both administrative and police action.

OUHS has sought a detailed report from MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Brahmapur, where the alleged irregularities were reported. The medical college has also constituted an internal disciplinary committee under the chairmanship of its Dean and Principal to investigate the matter and initiate action against those found responsible in accordance with institutional rules.

Meanwhile, the Controller of Examinations of OUHS has lodged an FIR at the Capital Police Station in Bhubaneswar, alleging the unauthorised electronic transmission and circulation of confidential examination-related information through WhatsApp groups. The complaint names MKCG Medical College and Hospital and a private medical college in connection with the alleged leak.

Disciplinary as well as legal action will be initiated against those found guilty after the departmental inquiry and the police investigation are completed. The state government has maintained that strict action will be taken if the allegations are substantiated.
