Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has booked three RTI activists for spreading ‘fake and misleading information’ regarding the security cover of 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman V K Pandian.
Sanjeev Panda, Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, told the media on Wednesday that a case has been registered against Prakash Das, Srikant Pakal and Pradip Pradhan of Odisha Soochana Adhikar Abhijan (OSAA), the body of RTI activists in Odisha, at Saheed Nagar police station.
The action comes days after the BJP moved the State Election Commission seeking the withdrawal of “superfluous security benefits” provided to Pandian. Based on the information made public by the three RTI activists, the BJP claimed that his Pandian’s security squad comprising 74 personnel surpassed the Z+ cover of 55 guards.
The three RTI activists had disseminated the information at a press conference held in the capital city on March 29. Panda said that the claims of the RTI activists were fictitious and baseless.
