Bhubaneswar: Three women, including a minor girl, were rescued by security personnel at the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bus Terminal (BSABT) in Baramunda on Monday night after they allegedly escaped from individuals who were attempting to take them out of the district.
According to reports, the women were allegedly being taken away by some NGO workers linked to an ashram. However, the women managed to flee and entered the bus terminal premises in a bid to save themselves.
The women ran through different parts of the terminal and took shelter in nearby lanes and under parked buses. Some women employees of the NGO were also reportedly seen chasing them inside the bus stand, creating panic among commuters and drawing the attention of security personnel, the report said.
Alert BSABT security staff intervened and rescued the women from the spot. During preliminary interaction, the victims reportedly told security personnel that they were being taken against their will.
Following the rescue, the women were handed over to the BSABT outpost police. Police later shifted them to a short-stay home for safety and further inquiry.
Police are now analyzing CCTV footage from the bus terminal and surrounding areas to verify the sequence of events and identify those involved.
