Balasore: The carcass of a giant whale shark washed ashore on Bhogarai beach in Balasore’s Talasari area on Wednesday night.
Measuring over 30 feet in length and with a girth of 15 feet, the massive creature is estimated to weigh around 50 quintals. This is the first time such a giant shark has been spotted in the area, according to reports.
The fishermen, hailing from Sahabajipur village under Bhograi block, were out at sea when they caught the behemoth in their nets, approximately 7 kilometres from the coastline.
The catch has sent shockwaves through the local community, with many flocking to see the enormous shark.
