Mayurbhanj: At least 30 passengers, five critically, were injured in a road accident on the National Highway 220 under Karanjia police station in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Friday morning.
According to reports, the accident occurred when a private bus named Mangla hit a sand-laden Hyva moving ahead showed a wrong indicator while turning. As the bus was moving at a great speed, the driver of the vehicle applied breaks but lost control of the wheels. Subsequently, the bus crashed into the rear of the Hyva.
The bus was carrying around 60 passengers from Mayurbhanj to Keonjhar. Those sitting in the front seats of the vehicle sustained critical injuries. The front portion of the bus was completely mangled in the accident.
On being informed, Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the injured. The injured have been admitted to the nearby Karanjia Medical Center. The condition of the injured is said to be stable.
