Bhubaneswar: Around 40 platoons of police will be deployed at the historic 11th-century Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar for the Maha Shivaratri celebrations on February 26.

This was announced by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Bhubaneswar Pinak Mishra, on Tuesday.

Addressing the media, DCP Mishra explained that comprehensive security measures had been put in place for the festival.

“Lakhs of devotees are expected to visit the Lingaraj temple tomorrow to offer prayers. We have already made all necessary arrangements for traffic management, safety, and security. Emergency services, including fire brigades, have also been arranged,” he said.

He further mentioned that around 40 platoons of police forces and more than 100 police officers of various ranks would be present at the Lingaraj temple tomorrow.

“Police duties will begin early in the morning and continue throughout the day. We request the public to cooperate with the police. Our goal is to ensure that this world-renowned Maha Shivaratri celebration is carried out safely,” he added.
