5 Arrested For Stealing Copper Wires From Transformers In Subarnapur

Bhubaneswar: Police on Monday arrested five persons in connection with the theft of copper wires from transformers at Jamchhapar and Mahadevpali villages under Binika Police Station in Subarnapur district.

Of the arrested, four are from Chhattisgarh, while one hails from the Nuapada area. Locals caught the miscreants red-handed while they were trying to steal coils from the transformers and immediately informed the police.

Acting on the information, officers from Binika Police Station reached the two locations and arrested all five persons. During the operation, police recovered a four-wheeler vehicle, a plier, a wrench, and a coil bundle weighing 1 quintal 30 kg from the accused.

“All the accused will be forwarded to court today,” said IIC Satyanarayan Pradhan while briefing the media. He added that the police are further investigating whether the group is involved in similar thefts in other areas.
