Puri: Carrying a message of devotion, world peace, brotherhood and universal well-being, five devotees have embarked on an arduous spiritual pilgrimage from Kataka to Puri, covering the entire route through repeated full-body prostrations.
For the past five days, the devotees have been slowly making their way towards Puri by lying fully prostrate on the road and offering ‘Sashtang Dandavat Pranam’ at every step. The traditional form of worship involves devotees completely prostrating themselves on the ground as an expression of humility, surrender and devotion.
Despite scorching heat and intermittent rain, the devotees have remained steadfast in their resolve. The physical strain, exhaustion and challenges of the long journey have not deterred them from continuing their pilgrimage.
The devotees said their ultimate goal is to reach Puri and offer themselves in complete surrender before Lord Lokanath (a revered form of Lord Shiva).
They further said that the pilgrimage is not being undertaken merely for personal devotion or the fulfilment of individual wishes. Instead, they seek to convey a larger message of world peace, brotherhood and the welfare of humanity.
Moving slowly along the Kataka-Puri route, the devotees’ arduous journey reflects their deep faith, sacrifice and spiritual discipline. Each prostration is a testament to their determination, while their unwavering devotion continues to give them the strength to endure the physical hardships of the pilgrimage.
The unique pilgrimage has drawn attention for its extraordinary display of faith and perseverance, turning the journey from Kataka to Puri into a moving expression of devotion and surrender, while spreading a message of peace, harmony, brotherhood and universal well-being.
