Bhubaneswar: Five meritorious students who have successfully passed B.Tech in Mining Engineering from Keonjhar Government Engineering College will be sent to Australia for higher education.

They will have the opportunity to pursue higher education in the field of mining engineering at Curtin University, one of the world’s most prestigious universities, and their tuition, accommodation and travel expenses in Australia will be borne by the Keonjhar District Mining Foundation. On Monday, these five students met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at Naveen Nivas.

The Chief Minister expressed his happiness after learning that these students from Odisha’s Keonjhar district will be going to Australia for higher studies at the West Australian School of Mines, Minerals, Energy and Chemical Engineering (WASM: MECE) under Curtin University. He wished all the students good luck on this new journey and advised them to work hard and achieve their career goals.

Australian universities are known around the world for their relationships with industry, high-impact research and a wide range of innovative courses. The institution has been ranked second in the QS World University Rankings for Minerals and Mining Engineering Education for seven consecutive years.

The five students selected from Keonjhar district to study here are Minerva Sahu, Advik Kumar, Aquib Ahmed, Gitish Shekhar Naik and Saroj Kumar Vishwakarma. All these students will go to Australia to pursue a Postgraduate degree in Professional Mining Engineering.

For this, an agreement has been reached between the Keonjhar district administration and the West Australian School of Mines. It has campuses in Perth and the historic mining town of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia where there are ample opportunities for mineral exploration. The school also has a good track record of placing students in various reputed companies worldwide.

There is a big and important purpose behind this agreement between the Keonjhar District Administration and the West Australian School of Mines. Keonjhar being a tribal district also has a good presence of mineral resources. Therefore, it provides an opportunity for the district administration to improve the educational atmosphere of the district and empower the youth here.

The objective of this agreement is not only to provide world-class education facilities to the students of Keonjhar district but also to nurture the local talents of Keonjhar district.

The main objective of the district administration is to equip them with the latest knowledge in the field of mining engineering to enable them to take leadership in the development of their region in the future, which will stand as a shining example of academic achievement and responsible human resource management.

5T Secretary VK Pandian and Keonjhar District Collector Ashish Thakare were present during this meeting with the Chief Minister.
